1 killed, 1 injured in Walworth County crash
Passenger extricated from vehicle, pronounced dead at scene, officials say
TOWN OF LYONS, Wis. — One person was killed and another was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Walworth County Monday morning, officials said.
Around 9:30 a.m., Walworth County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the area of 5791 Highway 36 in the town of Lyons, according to a release.
The driver, Taran Q. Raczka, 22, of Burlington, was transported to Burlington Hospital then flown to Froedtert Medical Center in Milwaukee, officials said. The passenger, Jeffrey S. Bonsall, 45, of Delavan, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Raczka was driving east on Highway 36 when he lost control for unknown reasons and hit a tree, investigators said. There were no indications of Raczka braking prior to the vehicle hitting the tree.
Bonsall was trapped in the vehicle, and responding deputies and rescue personnel eventually extricated him from the vehicle before he was pronounced dead, according to the release.
An autopsy is being performed Tuesday to determine the exact cause of death, officials said.
