MADISON, Wis. -- An 89-year-old driver hit a bicyclist on Mineral Point Road at Berwyn Drive Wednesday evening.
June Forsyth, of Madison, was ticketed for failure to have control. Bicyclist, Ethan Mastny, 25, was treated and released after being hit from behind and thrown onto Forsyth windshield, shattering it.
Police said Mastny was waiting to make a left turn at the intersection and Forsyth did not see the bicyclist, despite lights and reflectors. Mastny bounced up and over the car and landed on the roadway. He was transported by ambulance for a suspected leg fracture and other injuries.
Police transported Forsyth home. She and her passenger were seat belted and uninjured.
Mastny was using all required safety equipment and obeying the rules of the road; he was also wearing a helmet, which prevented more serious injuries, police said.
