GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Thirty-seconds later and Kelly and John Winters would not have seen the gray tabby cat get hit by a car.
The Green Bay couple thinks it wasn't a mistake that they found the cat, who they named Leo.
And now they are trying to collect $1,500 so the injured 2-year-old cat can get surgery for a pelvic fracture.
After they saw the car hit Leo, they rushed him to the Bay Area Humane Society and Animal Shelter. After no one claimed him, the Winters adopted him, without knowing just how serious his injuries were.
The cat has a pelvic fracture that is pushing into his colon, making it difficult for him to pass stools. Doctors say without surgery Leo will die.
The Winters cleared out their savings account and received a $50 donation this week. But donations are still needed.
