Neil Heinen is the Editorial Director for WISC TV and the Madison Magazine.

He's been with Television Wisconsin, Inc., since 1987 and has been editorial director since 1992. He added duties as senior political writer for sister company Madison Magazine in 2000, and was named the magazine's fourth editor in 2004 and then editorial director in 2005.

He is currently vice-president of the National Conference of Editorial Writers and is a fellow in the Center for Democracy in Action.

He plays a little softball and even less golf. But he and his wife Nancy have logged a lot of miles, mostly by foot. He listens to Charlie Haden, Charles Mingus, Neil Young, Laura Nyro, Bill Evans, the Band and Garbage. And he's read everything ever written by Jim Harrison, Tom Robbins, Amy Tan, Charles Simic and Ronald Wallace. His motorcycle is an old Honda 750. He and Nancy have two dogs, Omelete and Baguette. It's a long story.
