To take one look at my email, you'd think I'd be racking up the frequent flyer miles and Kleenex boxes as I have "next of kin" dying all over the world. This would make me tremendously sad if I knew any of these people who apparently share my surname and who, in death, are prepared to share their millions of dollars with me, courtesy of some kindly banker in a foreign country.

Today's note comes from "Mrs. Alice Hamanin," who allegedly is with a bank in the African nation of Burkina Faso. Interestingly, I've had "next of kin" requests from all sorts of Asian nations, African nations and European nations.

Of course, these people don't exist except as a vehicle to attempt to get me to turn over personal information to "bankers" who, in reality, want to scam me.

I'm not going to let them and I hope you won't either. Your family tree may have branches all over the world, but they will not bear fruit in the form of millions of dollars to you from random email addresses and random people. It just doesn't happen.

Take care and just hit delete.
