Stormy across southern Wisconsin on Sunday left behind high water and sporadic damage in some areas.

Residents had extra yardwork to do after trees were knocked down while power outages were reported in a number of communities.

At one point, nearly 7,000 homes were without power Sunday evening, according to Alliant Energy. A spokesperson said that about 6,000 homes lost power in the Mineral Point area at around 4:30 p.m. These homes were in Iowa County, northern Lafayette County and western Dane County.

Officials said that another large outage occurred in Green County, with about 900 homes without power, including houses in the area of Monroe and New Glarus. The outage happened just before 3 p.m.

In Blanchardville, resident Russ Fye said that he saw the storm move through very suddenly.

"It was 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m. (and there was) driving rain, straight-line winds," said Fye. "(I) saw the tree go over. Well, you saw your tree go down, I saw mine tip into the house."
