Late Winter Storm Rolls Through Wisconsin
Winter Weather Advisory Continues Until 9 P.M.

MADISON, Wis. -- With March now more than a week old, many Wisconsinites might have thought the state had finally escaped winter's clutches and spring was only days away. However, another winter storm is rolling through the state on Sunday and is a reminder from Mother Nature that such notions are premature.The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 9 p.m. on Sunday.Thirty-two counties in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois are included in the advisory. The Wisconsin counties include: Adams; Columbia; Crawford; Dane; Dodge; Fond du Lac; Grant; Green; Green Lake; Iowa, Jefferson; Juneau; La Crosse; Lafayette; Marquette; Monroe; Richland; Rock; Sauk; Vernon; Walworth; Washington; Waukesha; and Waushara. Iowa counties include Allamakee, Clayton and Dubuque. Illinois counties include Boone, Jo Daviess, McHenry, Stephenson and Winnebago.A winter storm warning has been issued for areas north and west of Richland Center until 7 p.m. and north of Dane County until 9 p.m. A flash flood watch has been issued until 6 p.m. for south and east of Dane County.Forecasters said that rain and freezing rain will change to sleet, then all snow by mid-afternoon. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of heavy wet snow are possible by late Sunday afternoon.A winter weather advisory is issued when a mixture of snow and sleet will cause difficult travel. Officials said that motorists should be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and should use caution while driving.Stay tuned to WISC-TV and Channel 3000 for continuing coverage.
