Tucked away in the hills of Sparta, Wisconsin, lies a very traditional monastery, where monks pray and walk the halls filled with books containing the rich history of 900 years.

But add to it one unique room which brings a whole new light to tradition. It's an international shipping room.

Through the centuries monks have been on the forefront when it comes to innovation of enterprise business, but the latest business has crossed new boundaries into the world of cyberspace.

"I started looking around on line to buy something and it just struck me how incredibly expensive a bunch of black dust or squirts of ink were," said Father Bernard McCoy. "I said you know, there's got to be a better way."

Then he found it two years ago.

Now, a small shipping room is just a small piece of an international business. The 'laser' monks sell ink cartridges and toner all over the world.

"Of course there's always a great spiritual rebate from the monks that not only do you save money and get good works, but we're going to pray for you as well," said McCoy.

After customers go online and buy the discounted product, they can click their way into a heavenly deal, sending prayer requests.

One such request reads, "You guys get my next toner order no question, but please put in a good word for me, I'm undergoing chemo for intestinal cancer."

Others are vague: "I think your connections with the upper level management are better than mine. You seem closer, would you please pray for me? He knows my problems. Just tell him it's me, he'll know."

The good works go beyond helping ink buyers. Laser monks will bring in nearly $4 million for charities this year.

"We provide computer training, Microsoft products for orphans and street kids so they don't have to be prostitutes; they don't have to live a life of crime," said McCoy.

Through the power of ink and a higher power, the life of these monks is the beginning of a religiously hi-tech revolution.

"Buying ink and toner dusk is not any exciting event in people's lives, why not make it a little more fun?" said McCoy.
