Lawmakers To Consider Ban On Texting While Driving
Majority Leader Plans Vote

MADISON, Wis. -- The effort to pass a bill banning sending a text message while driving in Wisconsin got a major push on Monday.Assembly Majority Leader Tom Nelson, of Kaukauna, said he plans on scheduling a vote on Assembly bill 496 at the beginning of the next session. A version of the legislation has already cleared the state Senate.The bill prohibits sending texts or emails while driving. Violators face fines of $100 to $400 for a first offense and up to $800 for subsequent violations.Stay tuned to WISC-TV and Channel 3000 for continuing coverage.
