Defending state division one individual champion Jessica Reinecke of Verona has the lead after the first round of the WIAA State Girls Golf Championship at University Ridge.

On a cool, windy day, Reinecke shot three under par 69 to take a three-shot lead on Middleton's Loren Skibba and five shots over Stoughton's Becky Klongland in the individual race.

Arrowhead has the division one team lead with a score of 314. Middleton is second at 323, while Verona is third at 324. Janesville Parker is 7th with a total of 359.

Madison Edgewood leads the division two team competition. The Crusaders opened with 332- that's 20 shots ahead of second place Fox Valley Lutheran.

Edgewood's Caroline Lake shot one over par 73 to take the individual lead while her teammate, Tess Hackworthy, is second with a 75.

McFarland's Erin Culver is 10th individually with a first round of 87.

The second and final round is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday at University Ridge.
