DeForest beats Waunakee 28-14
First regular season win over Warriors since 1996
Waunakee has dominated the Badger North Conference for fifteen years. DeForest has felt that dominance first hand. The Norskies haven't beaten Waunakee since their playoff win over the Warriors in 2007. In the regular season? Try 1996.
2013 is a new year.
Friday, the Norskies thumped the slumping Warriors 28-14.
The Norskies struck first. Lucas Miller ran for a 47 yard touchdown to make it 7-0 DeForest. DeForest tacked on two more scores to make it 21-0.
But the Warriors continued to fight. Troy Laufenberg found daylight and scored a 92 yard score to cut the DeForest lead to 14. Then, Jacob Andersen snagged an interception and returned it for a touchdown to make it 21-14!
With two minutes to go, and backed up deep in their own territory, the Warriors had one last chance. A high snap went over the head of quarterback Alex Helt. The DeForest defense pounced on the loose ball for the touchdown, sealing the 28-14 DeForest victory.
