WHITEWATER -

Both the UW-Whitewater men's and women's basketball teams will be going for NCAA Division Three national championships this weekend.

The men's team plays in the Final Four in Salem, Virginia, while the women's team goes to Stevens Point for its Final Four.

"It's great because we really have a strong relationship with our men's program, obviously sharing the gym, but we used to ride the buses together, too," said UWW women's coach Keri Carollo.

Men's coach Pat Miller says "our players are all friends and we have a relationship with their staff. It's great to watch their success."

Two Warhawk players are brother and sister - Alex and Mary Merg.

"We're both seniors and it's a good way to go out and end our careers," said Mary Merg.

Alex Merg says having two children in the Final Four in two places causes some problems for their parents. "The order calls for my dad to head out to Virginia and my mom's going to head north to Stevens Point."
