The Waunakee girls soccer team defeated Oregon 2-1 Saturday in a Division 2 sectional final soccer game in Waunakee.

The Warriors advance to next weeks state tournament in Milwaukee. They will face Rhinelander in the Division 2 state semifinal at 2 p.m.

Oregon's Makena Fanning started the scoring the just the third minute. But Waunakee tied the game on Macie Maulbetsch's goal in the 8th minute.

In the 31st minute, Waunakee's Grace Lujan's shot toward the goal was deflected off Oregon's Jess Jacobs for the goal. That's all the Warriors needed to win 2-1.

In Division 3, Mount Horeb is back for the third straight year and third overall appearance at state. Mount Horeb defeated Monroe 3-0 Saturday in a sectional final in Evansville.

The Vikings will face Ashland Thursday night at 7 p.m. in a Division 3 state semifinal.

In Division 1 Madison West falls to Kettle Moraine 5-2. The Regents had a 2-1 half time lead but the Lasers scored four goals in the second half to earn their first trip to state.

In Division 4, Wisconsin Heights falls 6-0 to Lake Country Luthernan.

The state girls soccer tournament is June 19-21 at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee.
