Veteran pitcher Joe Saunders, who has bounced around the major leagues this season, signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles on Friday.
The Orioles are Saunders' fifth organization this year. The left-hander was released by the Kansas City Royals earlier this week after posting a 1-2 record and a 6.75 ERA in four starts for Triple-A Omaha.
The 33-year-old Saunders is expected to be sent by the Orioles to Triple-A to work as a reliever, the Baltimore Sun reported.
Saunders started the season with the Texas Rangers and went 0-5 with a 6.13 ERA in eight starts. His combined record in 16 minor and major league starts this year is 1-9 with a 5.65 ERA.
