Rockies pound Brewers, 8-3

Peralta hit hard in short stint

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies pounded Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Wily Peralta for seven hits and eight runs in less than four innings in an 8-3 win in Denver Friday night.

The Rockies scored four runs in the second and the fourth innings, chasing Peralta (8-9) after three and two-thirds innings.

Colorado had only one extra base hit all night, a two-run double by starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood in the second.

Chatwood (7-3) pitched seven strong innings allowing six hits, two runs and striking out 11 Brewers batters.

Milwaukee had only eight hits including a ninth inning home run by Carlos Gomez, his 17th of the season.
