Texas Rangers second baseman Jurickson Profar has been ruled out for the rest of the season, according to multiple reports.

Profar, 21, has been sidelined with shoulder problems since spring training and eventually had surgery.

Profar did not play this season. He is about two weeks from starting a throwing program and may play in the Arizona Fall League in October or winter ball.

The Rangers' former No. 1 prospect played in his first full season last year. In 303 major-league at-bats, Profar is batting .231 with a .301 on-base percentage, 13 doubles, seven home runs and 28 RBIs.
