GREEN BAY, Wis. -

The Green Bay Packers will begin a three-day mini -camp on Tuesday as the team readies for training camp later this summer.

Mini-camp is the last big event before training camp begins at the end of July. Team leaders said the camp will be as much education as anything as the team installs its systems for the coming season.

The Packers remain favorites to win the Super Bowl next year, and after a 15-1 regular season last year, many foresee the upcoming season could go Green Bay's way.

Despite that, coach Mike McCarthy said there's a long way to go before the packers look great..

"You're never really happy where you team is in June. But it's June," he said. "So, I'm talking to myself right now. We've had an opportunity to put everything in offensively, defensively, special teams and we have a mini-camp here.

McCarthy said that what's ahead will determine the team's meddle.

"We'll use that as a chance to clean up," he said. " We'll be excited when July 23 kicks around. We get into some real football situations and start to really grow as a football team."

Meanwhile, Packers linebacker Clay Matthews put on a camp for about 400 youth football players on Monday in Ashwaubenon..

"I always love giving back, especially in this case, where I'm able to do something for the sport that I love, and help these kids who have a dream to potentially be in my shoes one day. I think it's important to not only do this, but to do it again in the future," Matthews said.
