GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson appears to be on track to play in the preseason game at the St. Louis Rams on Saturday.
The veteran standout returned to practice Tuesday after missing the Packers' preseason-opening loss at the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night because of a hamstring injury. Green Bay didn't practice Thursday, but coach Mike McCarthy said Nelson "looks good" and "is on course" to practice Friday before the team leaves for St. Louis.
Running back Eddie Lacy also indicated Thursday that he will play Saturday for the first time this preseason after being held out of the game last weekend as a healthy scratch.
Asked whether he will be on the field against the Rams, Lacy said, "I believe so, but probably not a lot."
Running back Rajion Neal won't play Saturday, McCarthy confirmed. The undrafted rookie suffered a knee injury in the preseason opener and didn't practice this week.
Inside linebacker Joe Thomas was also ruled out of Saturday's game. He has not practiced this week after suffering a knee injury in the first preseason game.
