The Boston Red Sox acquired minor league left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for left-handed pitcher Andrew Miller, the team announced Thursday.

Rodriguez, 21, has spent this season with Double-A Bowie in the Orioles minor league system where he has gone 3-7 with a 4.79 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 16 starts. This year he has held left-handed hitters to a .186 batting average (18-for-97) with just five extra-base hits, all doubles.

Miller, 29, is 3-5 with a 2.34 ERA in 50 games for the Red Sox this season, all in relief.
