Middleton's Thomas leads WIAA state golf

Shoots 68 to take Div. 1 individual lead

VERONA - Middleton's Alexis Thomas shot four-under par 68 to take the first round lead in Division One at the WIAA State Girls Golf Championship at University Ridge in Verona Monday.

Thomas went off the 10th tee and shot three-under 33 on the back nine.

She has a two-shot lead on Arrowhead's Emily Lauterback.

Milton's Mia Seeman is fourth at +2, Oregon's Taylor McCorkle, tied for sixth at +5 and Beaver Dam's Ashley Kulka is tied for ninth at +6.

Arrowhead (308) leads Middleton (334) in the Division One team race. Milton is sixth (355). Oregon is 12th (404).

In Division Two, The Prairie School (333) has a 34-shot lead on second place Aquinas.

Freedom's Lori Meyer is the individual leader with a 74 Monday. Racine St. Catherine's Sara Busey is second at 75.

Edgewood's Grace Welch is seventh at +11.
