Madison, WI - On April 2, Memorial Baseball was supposed to travel to Janesville to take on Parker. Due to the harsh Wisconsin spring, that didn't happen. The two made up for it with a doubleheader at Memorial on Tuesday. The Spartans took care of business, sweeping Parker 8-2 and 9-6.
Game one featured more of Wisconsin's diverse climate, 85 degree temperatures, with a driving wind coming in from left field. Both teams took time to feel the other out, not scoring until the fourth inning.
Parker struck first. Zach Bailey slipped one between short and third base, scoring Mitch Benway. Parker led 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.
That's when Memorial came alive.
In the bottom of the fourth, a Riley Karns grounder scored the first Spartans run of the day. Another Memorial hit and two wild pitches gave the Spartans a 4-2 lead.
The Spartans never looked back, winning the game, 8-2. Memorial took game two 9-6.Memorial sweeps doubleheader against Janesville Parker
