Mallards win, move closer to playoffs

Need one more win for South Division title

BATTLE CREEK, MI - The Madison Mallards defeated the Battle Creek Bombers 11-1 in Battle Creek Monday night to move one win away from clinching the Northwoods League South Division title.

Mallards starter Luke Staub (3-2) won his third straight decision going eight innings, striking out five and walking one.

The Mallards scored five runs in the fifth inning and four more in the seventh.

Luke Meeteer went four for four with two RBI to lead the Mallards offense.

Madison needs to win one of its next two games at LaCrosse Tuesday and Wednesday to win the first half championship in the South Division.
