Mallards win in Wis. Rapids, 4-3

Ends six-game losing streak

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - The Madison Mallards ended their six-game losing streak with a 4-3 win at Wisconsin Rapids Monday night.

Jeff Zahn's RBI double in the second gave the Mallards a 1-0 lead, but the Rafters scored twice in the third on an error and a ground out to go in front, 2-1.

The Mallards got the lead for good with two runs in the eighth. Drew Weeks hit a sole homer to tie the game, then Kyle Ruchim's double scored Mike Fitzgerald with go-ahead run to make it 3-2.

Madison added an insurance run in the ninth when Erik Forgione scored on a wild pitch.

Sam Forkert loaded the bases in the ninth with only one out, but after allowing a run on a sacrifice fly, got the final out for his fourth save of the season.

Luke Staub got the win for the Mallards, allowing two runs on six hits over seven innings.
