The Madison Mallards and Willmar Stingers split a Northwoods League doubleheader at Warner Park Thursday night.
The Stingers won the first game, 7-6 as they held off a furious Mallards rally.
The Mallards trailed 7-3 going into the seventh, but Pete Alonso homered as Madison scored three times in the inning, but fell one run short.
Starting pitcher Sterling Sharp (3-6) took the loss for the Mallards
In the second game, the Mallards won 5-0 as Rob McConnell gave up just two hits over six innings.
Alonso continued his big night with three hits and three RBI in the second game of the doubleheader.
