Mallards beat Bombers in Battle Creek

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Madison Mallards are back in first place after beating the Battle Creek Bombers in Michigan Sunday.

Right fielder Tate Matheny and third baseman John LaPrise combined to get four RBI's and seven hits to help the Mallards beat the Bombers 10-2 in Battle Creek.

The win combined with a loss from the Lakeshore Chinooks to put the Mallards back into first place in the Northwoods League South Division Standings.

Mallards starter Taylore Cherry pitched three innings and allowed one run. But he struggled with his command and issued four walks.  Sam Forkert came in relief of Cherry to earn the win. He threw three innings with three strikeouts and one walk in relief of Cherry.  

The Mallards have one more game with the Bombers Monday night before finishing up the first half schedule with two games at La Crosse on July 2nd and July 3rd.
