Mallards losing streak hits eight

Woodchucks get five in eighth for 6-2 win

WAUSAU - The Wisconsin Woodchucks scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to hand the Madison Mallards their eighth straight Northwoods League loss, 6-2 in Wausau Monday night.

The Mallards scored runs in the third and fourth on RBI ground outs by Connor Marabell and Trent Higginbotham.

Leading 2-1 into the bottom of the eighth, Mallards closer Tim Black gave up five runs on five hits.  Zach Arnold's two-run double was the key hit in the inning for the Woochducks.

With the loss, the Mallards fall to 12-14 in the second half of the season - nine games behind first place Lakeshore.
