Mallards issue 11 walks in 12-5 loss
Mallards score most of their runs in first two innings
The Madison Mallards head home to the "Duck Pond" after suffering a rough night in La Crosse Tuesday.
The Mallards gave up 11 walks as part of a 12-5 loss to the La Crosse Loggers.
The Mallards got four runs in the second inning, but couldn't sustain the momentum.
Mallards starter Greg Welsh gave up eight earned runs on seven hits and three walks in just 3 2/3 innings before being pulled from the game. Welsh fell to 5-2 and saw his ERA rise to 5.05.
Jeff Zahn knocked in two of the Mallards runs in the four-run second inning. John LaPrise, who extended his hitting streak to 12 games after a 1-for-4 day, knocked home the other two batters later to round out the Mallards scoring.
The Mallards return to the "Duck Pond" Wednesday for a game against the Green Bay Bullfrogs at 7:05 p.m. They will then travel to Green Bay on Friday to wrap up the three-game series.
