Mallards can't hold lead against Mankato

Madison continues nine-game home stand Wednesday

MADISON, Wis. - A two-run lead wasn't enough for the Madison Mallards Tuesday night.

The Mallards scored two runs in the first two innings, but the Mankato MoonDogs came from behind to get a 6-2 victory.

Joe McCarthy and Bre Kimbell got RBI's in the first two innings for the Mallards, but starting pitcher Luke Staub couldn't hold back the MoonDogs.

Staub couldn't get out of the third inning, after giving up four runs. However, only two of those runs were earned.

Meanwhile, Brock Dykxhoorn shut down the Mallards the rest of the way. The Mallards weren't  able to get two base runners on in an inning until the seventh.

The Mallards go to 16-9 on the second half, and 37-21 overall. The Mallards continue their nine-game homestand by hosting the Willmar Stingers Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday is Summerween at the "Duck Pond!" There will be Trick-or-Treating on the field after the game. Kids 12 and under in costume will get a free ticket.
