LA CROSSE, Wis. -

The Madison Mallards kept their playoff hopes alive Sunday in La Crosse, scoring a 2-1 victory over the Loggers.

Nate Hoffman carried the load on the mound, tossing five innings and giving up just one run.

At the dish, the Mallards only managed two hits, but in the fifth inning, Tony Butler's single drove in Michael Handel to tie thing at 1-1. Moments later, Loggers pitcher Kevin Roy made a throwing error that scored Matt Thaiss, the deciding run in the 2-1 final score.

The Mallards return to the Duck Pond Monday night to host Alexandria.
