MADISON -

The Wisconsin Woodchucks scored three runs with two outs in the ninth but rallied to beat the Madison Mallards, 5-3 in a Northwoods League game at Warner Park Sunday afternoon.

The Mallards had a 3-2 lead and retired the first two Woodchuck batters in the ninth, but then three singles and a double gave Wisconsin three runs and the lead.

Woodchucks closer John Oltman shut down the Mallards in the ninth to preserve the win..

Mallards reliever Ben Neumann took the loss. He pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on three hits.

Madison's Pete Alonso went 3-3 with a homer while Brian Rodemoyer had two hits and an RBI for the Mallards.

The Mallards travel to Mequon to face the Lakeshore Chinooks in a doubleheader that begins at 4:05 pm Monday afternoon.
