Girls Soccer: Mount Horeb falls to Catholic Memorial in title game

Vikings take home a silver ball in 2013

Milwaukee, Wis. - For the second year in a row the Mount Horeb girls soccer team falls to Catholic Memorial in the division two state soccer championship game. The Crusaders beat the Vikings 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Uihlein soccer park.

Crusader freshman Emily Cervantes scored two goals, including one in just the sixth minute.

Mount Horeb has to settle for silver but they are starting a fantastic tradition of ending its season at state.

"We had a great season they are not satisfied and that is good our program has gotten to the point where just getting here is not enough. We know we played a very very good team and my girls gave everything they had and sometimes that is just not enough," said head coach Mark Newman, whose team has made it to state twice in school history. (2012, 2013)

"We are definitely proud of how far we came we lost a lot of strong players last year so it was our goal from the start to get back here. We had to change up a little of how we played and I am proud of how we played and I am looking forward to the future," said sophomore Captain Lilly Iverson.
