Div. 1 Cross Country: West, La Follette boys, Stoughton, Middleton girls make it to state

State meet is Nov. 2 in Wisconsin Rapids

MADISON, Wis. - Div. 1 Cross Country: West, Lafollette boys and Stoughton, Middleton girls make it to state

Led by senior Olin Hacker, the Madison West boys cross country team advanced to state by winning the Division 1 sectional meet in DeForest.

Hacker won the individual title with a time of 16:08. The Regents win the team title with 56 points.

Middleton took second with 110 points, winning a tie-breaker over Baraboo.

On the girls side, led by a third place finish by sophomore Samantha Valentine (14:55), the Middleton girls cross country team advanced to state with 51 Points.  Sun Prairie took second with 54 points; and they also advance to state.

In Verona Stoughton's Nikki Staffen won the individual title in the girls Division 1 sectional with a time of 16:15. The Vikings also won the team title with 38 points.

Fort Atkinson took second with 99 points.

On the boys side, Verona's Ryan Nameth won the individual title (15:55). La Follette won the team title with 43 points, and Badger was second with 70 points.

The State Cross Country Meet is next Saturday in Wisconsin Rapids.
