ANDERSON, Ind. -- Indianapolis Colts running back Vick Ballard is out for the season following a non-contact Achilles injury during practice Friday.

It is the second injury setback in two seasons for the second-year veteran. The 5-foot-10, 224-pound running back from Mississippi State was returning to action after sitting out most of the 2013 season with a torn right ACL.

This latest injury occurred early the Friday workout. Ballard was not hit on the play, but came up limping after catching a pass and was helped off the field by trainers and taken to the locker room.

After an MRI was performed Friday night, the injury was confirmed Saturday morning. He will have season-ending surgery. His ACL injury last year also occurred on a non-contact play in practice.
