Aoki, Lucroy also honored

MILWAUKEE - Carlos Gomez was named the Brewers' 2013 Most Valuable Player and Kyle Lohse, the Most Valuable Pitcher in voting by the Milwaukee Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Gomez was selected to the All-Star team for the first time and hit .284 with 24 HR, 73 RBI and had 40 stolen bases.

Gomez is the first Brewers player to hit 20-plus homers and steal 40-plus bases in one season. He was the only player in the majors this season to accomplish those totals.

Lohse was signed as a free agent over the winter and went 11-10 with a 3.35 earned run average in 32 starts.

He led the team in ERA, innings pitched (198.2) and quality starts (20).

Other award winners include outfielder Norichika Aoki, who was named the Brewers Unsung Hero and catcher Jonathan Lucroy who earned the Brewers Good Guy award.
