Matt Garza allowed six runs on eight hits in just three innings in his return from the disabled list as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 6-2 at Wrigley Field in Chicago Wednesday night.
The loss was the eighth straight for Milwaukee.
The Brewers had their first lead in 49 innings in the first when Logan Schafer drove in Khris Davis with a single to center.
But in the bottom of second, the Cubs took the lead for good when Chris Valaika hit a two-run homer off Garza (7-8).
The Cubs added four runs in the third.
Jorge Soler's double to left scored Chris Coghlan and Luis Valbuena, then Wellington Castillo hit another double off Garza to score Soler to make it 5-1.
Logan Watkins RBI single capped off the inning as the Cubs took a 6-1 lead.
The Brewers got their second run in the sixth when Valaika's error allowed Gerardo Parra to score.
Kyle Hendricks (6-1) was the winning pitcher for the Cubs as he gave up two runs on nine hits in five-and-two-thirds innings of work.
Ryan Braun missed the game for the Brewers to be with his wife who was delivering their first child.
