MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Sixth-ranked Wisconsin opened their volleyball season Friday night in Minneapolis for the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. In their first match of the season, they faced Louisville. The Badgers swept the match 3-0.
The Badgers took a 5-1 lead to start the first set as sophomore Lauren Carlini notched two service aces. Wisconsin eventually 25-16.
In the second set, UW opened with an 11-4 run, followed by an 8-1 Louisville run to tie things at 12-12. Tied at 16-16, Ellen Chapman had two kills and a block that gave the Badgers a lead they'd never give up. UW won the second set 25-22.
In the final set, Wisconsin never trailed. Freshman Kelly Bates' kill made it 14-9 Badgers. They cruised to a 25-17.
Up next, Wisconsin plays Notre Dame Saturday at 4 p.m.
