Tanner McEvoy on defense?

Gary Andersen suggests it's possible

MADISON - Wisconsin Badger head football coach Gary Andersen says he's trying to find ways to get junior college transfer Tanner McEvoy on the field- and it could be on defense.

McEvoy is competing for a spot at quarterback, but has also lined up at wide receiver in pre-season camp.

Andersen said on the weekly Big Ten Football Coaches conference call that "it's not out of the question that you may see Tanner back there doing a few things even in some defensive situations."

"He's so athletic, we need to get him on the field," Andersen added.

McEvoy played defensive back at Bergen Catholic High School in New Jersey. His 6-6, 223 pound frame makes him an intriguing option in the Badgers defensive backfield.

McEvoy has three years of eligibility with the Badgers.
