Michigan defeats Badger women, 70-62

Wisconsin can't recover from 28-point deficit

ANN ARBOR, MI - The Michigan Wolverines used a 13-2 run in the first half to defeat the Wisconsin Badgers, 70-62 in a Big Ten women's basketball game in Ann Arbor, Michigan Thursday night.

After trailing at halftime 35-23, Michigan built a 28-point lead with 11:03 remaining in the game and held on for the win.

Morgan Paige led Wisconsin with 18 points. Jacki Gulczynski had 14 and Nicole Bauman scored 10. Taylor Wurtz added 9 points and 11 rebounds.

Michigan had four players in double figures. Nicole Elmblad led the Wolverines with 15 points.

Wisconsin is now 8-6 overall, 1-1 in the Big Ten while Michigan improves to 10-4 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten.

The Badgers return home to face Iowa at the Kohl Center Sunday at noon.
