GB's Moesch walks on to Badger basketball

Is sixth member of 2013 recruiting class

MADISON - Aaron Moesch, a forward from Green Bay, Wis., has been admitted to the University of Wisconsin and will walk on to the men's basketball team beginning in the fall of 2013, head coach Bo Ryan has announced.

Moesch (6-8, 200) led Green Bay Southwest to the state regional finals this season after finishing second in the conference in scoring at 18.4 points per game, while adding 12.1 boards per contest. Moesch ended his career with more than 1,000 points, scoring a game-high 15 in his final prep outing against De Pere.

"We're excited to have Aaron join the Badgers program," Ryan said. "He is a terrific young man, fantastic student, and comes from a very supportive family.

"He had an excellent career at Green Bay Southwest and we're looking forward to having him join us soon.  Aaron will be an excellent addition to our program and the University of Wisconsin in general."

Despite playing just three years on the varsity squad at Green Bay Southwest, Moesch eclipsed the 1,000-point scoring plateau and earned honorable mention WBCA Division 1 all-state honors as a senior.

"Aaron has a very high basketball IQ that allows him to learn quickly on the court," Ryan added. "I've always had an admiration for student-athletes that want to challenge themselves at the highest level both on the court and in the classroom and Aaron is ready and anxious to attack those challenges."

Moesch becomes the sixth member of the Badgers' 2013 class, joining Bronson Koenig (La Crosse, Wis., Aquinas), Nigel Hayes (Toledo, Ohio, Whitmer), Vitto Brown (Bowling Green, Ohio, HS), Jordan Hill (Pasadena, Calif., Exeter Academy) and Riley Dearring (Minnetonka, Minn., HS).
