Badgers sweep NMU
First season opening sweep since 2004
Saturday at the Kohl Center, the 3rd ranked Badgers men's hockey team beat Northern Michigan 2-1 to start their season with a sweep for the first time in nine years.
In the first period, sophomore Nic Kerdiles scored his first goal of the season and now has points in each of his last 14 games.
Freshman forward Grant Besse followed up his own rebound andlit the lamp to break a 1-1 tie with 3:35 left in the third period and sen Wisconsin to its first season-opening sweep since the 2004-05 season. The sweep was also UW’s first over Northern Michigan since 1996-97.
