Wisconsin Badgers head football coach Gary Andersen says there are plenty of questions surrounding his team, but we'll begin finding a lot of those answers when fall camp begins Aug. 4.
Andersen, running back Melvin Gordon, offensive lineman Rob Havenstein and defensive lineman Warren Herring represented Wisconsin at the 43rd annual Big Ten Football Media Day in Chicago Monday.
Andersen says starting quarterback, the wide receivers and the defensive front seven will all feature tremendous competition and he's pleased with what he's seen so far.
"I'm proud of the kids- the way they're competing," Andersen said. "There's no agendas - there's no lockerroom lawyers around there trying to make a case for themselves. They're just competing and working hard."
Gordon is a pre-season Heisman Trophy candidate after rushing for 1,650 yards last season. He says he's looking forward to being the featured back in 2014.
"It's exciting me a lot because it's my time now to make some plays for my team," Gordon said. "Usually the guys that were here-- it was James team - it was those older guys team and now I get to lead these guys - I can show I can do it with out Montee or James - it's me and Corey and Taijuan and Caleb whoever shows up . But it's our time now to lead our team to greatness."
Wisconsin opens its season Saturday, August 30 at NRG Stadium in Houston against LSU.
