Badgers have first scrimmage of fall camp
Andersen says "when it's live it matters most"
The Badger football team has its first scrimmage of fall camp Monday afternoon at Camp Randall Stadium.
About 1300 fans attended the free scrimmage and the biggest cheers came when Joel Stave hit Jared Abbrederis with a 66-yard touchdown pass.
Curt Phillips started with the number one offense but shared time at quarterback with Stave and Tanner McEvoy.
Phillips hit Derek Watt with a 30-yard touchdown pass.
McEvoy struggled as he lost a fumble on a sack by Pat Muldoon. McEvoy was 2 for 9 for 22 yards passing.
After the scrimmage, Badgers head coach Gary Andersen said, "I think some kids played better than others. It's about scrimmages. It's 11 on 11 football and when it's live it matters the most. When the time comes you have to produce."
As far as the position battles, including quarterback, Andersen said, "I think there's been some slight separation at this point."
