MADISON, Wis. - Gary Andersen is entering the second week of his first training camp at Wisconsin.
Andersen comes from a defensive background as a former defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Utah. He uses a hands-on approach during practice, even coaching the defensive line from time to time.
"He'll (Andersen) will lead us in drills. That's something that is new and kind of exciting," adds Beau Allen.
Andersen's approach has helped create a "fun" environment at Badgers training camp by switching up the day-to-day routine. Players think it's refreshing.
Fellow defensive lineman Ethan Hemer agrees. "It feels like we're out playing football again. It's not just a job anymore."
The Badgers hold their first scrimmage Monday at Camp Randall. The scrimmage begins at 3:40 p.m. and is open to the public.21425728
