Andersen named Maxwell Award semifinalist
One of 16 top college coaches
Wisconsin Badgers head football coach is one of 16 semifinalsts for the Maxwell Award given to the nation's top college football coach.
The Award is presented by the Maxwell Football Club.
In his first season, Andersen has led the Badgers to an 8-2 record, including 5-1 in the Big Ten, and a No. 19 ranking in the latest BCS standings.
The Badgers have run off five-straight victories by an average of 26.0 points.
Wisconsin ranks fifth in the country in scoring defense, giving up just 14.0 points per game, and sixth in the nation in total defense, allowing just 287.8 yards per game.
Offensively, the Badgers are averaging 38.5 points per game (19th in the country) and are on pace to break the school record by averaging 505.8 yards per game.
In his last 29 games as head coach at Utah State and Wisconsin, Andersen has 25 wins-- a percentage of .828.
