STANDING ROCK INDIAN RESERVATION, N.D. -

UW basketball player Bronson Koenig spent his weekend in North Dakota to protest a pipeline being constructed through land controlled by Native Americans.

The La Crosse native is a member of the Ho-Chunk tribe. Koenig joined other Native Americans who said that pipeline would cut across sacred land.

Koenig and his brother left Friday with a trailer full of donations for protesters. He said he's hoping to bring more attention to the cause with his participation.

While in North Dakota, Koenig also offered up a free basketball clinic.

He was set to return to Wisconsin Sunday night.
