Badger men's hockey gets tie at North Dakota
Long-time rivals have physical battle
The Wisconsin and North Dakota men's hockey teams battled to a 1-1 tie in Grand Forks Friday night.
The teams combined for 28 penalties and 99 penalty minutes.
All of the scoring came within 13 seconds of the second period.
North Dakota's Danny Kristo had a shot trickle thorugh the Pads of Badger goaltender, Landon Peterson just 25 seconds into the second period.
But just seconds after that, Wisconsin's Michael Mersch scored on a wraparound shot for his 16th goal of the season. Mersch is now tied for the lead in goal scoring in the WCHA.

Wisconsin outshot North Dakota 30 to 22 in the game.
Wisconsin is now 11-8-6 overall and 8-5-6 WCHA and are 8-0-3 in their last 11 WCHA games. North Dakota is 13-8-6 overall, 8-5-6 in the WCHA.
Saturday night's game will mark the final time Wisconsin and North Dakota will meet as members of the WCHA.
The Badgers will play in the Big Ten Hockey Conference next season, North Dakota in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference.
