Badgers' Brendan Woods turns pro

Leaves Wisconsin after sophomore season

RALEIGH, NC - The Carolina Hurricanes announced that the team has agreed to terms with Wisconsin Badger Brendan Woods on a three-year, entry-level contract..

Woods scored five goals and had seven assists for the Badgers in 2012-13 and was a fifth-round selection of the Hurricanes in the 2012 NHL Entry draft.

Woods received a signing bonus of $225,000.

He'll join the Hurricanes' American Hockey League affiliate in Charlotte.

Woods' father, Bob, is currently an assistant coach with the NHL's Anaheim Ducks.
