Badger hockey gears up for Final Five

UW needs victories to get into NCAA tournament

MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team will head to St. Paul this weekend to participate in the WCHA Final Five tournament, following their sweep of Minnesota-Duluth over the weekend.

The team hasn't been to the Final Five in three years. But they understand if they want to make it to the NCAA tournament, they need to get some victories in St. Paul.

But coach Mike Eaves believes his team is ready.

"And you could feel it in the locker room after Saturday's game," said Eaves. "The fact, the statement was made we're going back to St. Paul. And for the guys that have been there, that's really exciting, to be on that stage and that environment."

"It's a great hockey environment," said Eaves. "We're going to a city that really embraces hockey. And the building will be packed. We'll be right in the eye of the storm. And the way you're treated, the level of play, it's all what you do all that summer work for, all the stuff that you put up all year, all the injuries, have a chance to be on the stage."

The Badgers play Minnesota State Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m.
