The Washington Nationals activated Ryan Zimmerman from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday after a minor league rehab assignment
Zimmerman, regularly the Nationals' third baseman, was scheduled to start in left field on Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies. He played left in two of his rehab games in Class A. In four games with Potomac, the 29-year-old Zimmerman batted .357 with three RBIs.
Zimmerman franctured his right thumb while diving back into second base during an April 12 game against the Atlanta Braves and missed 44 games. He has played in 10 major league games this season and has a .364 batting average with two home runs and six RBIs.
