LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England (AP) -- There were a number of wayward swings in today's second round of the British Open, but Brandt Snedeker and Adam Scott remain steady as can be.
   The 31-year-old Snedeker has never even made the cut in golf's oldest major, but he turned in another bogey-free round with a 6-under 64 today. That equaled Nick Faldo for the lowest 36-hole score in Open history.
   He also tied Scott's opening round score and the course record. But Scott didn't wilt on seeing a new name atop the leaderboard. The Australian turned it up on the back side, making three birdies capped by a 10-footer at the tough finishing hole. That left him at 67 for the day and 131 overall, one stroke behind the American.
   Tiger Woods shot another 67, putting him at 6-under through two rounds, four shots behind Snedeker.
   Conditions at Royal Lytham & St. Annes were fairly sodden after heavy overnight rains inundated the course. Some bunkers had standing water in the bottom, forcing a number of players to take penalty strokes.  Edgerton native Steve Stricker shoots one over and is tied for 11th at two under.
